I had no idea my last blog post was in June. So first, let me say, I am so sorry that my life has been taken over by school. Second let me say, it has been a busy few months!!!

July we had Rebecca's birthday party at Carol's pool again...she so loves it there. It was a great turn out, and the kids had a blast. Also, we went to the park for fireworks (tradition) and set off sparklers and such here.

August saw the start of school...for all FIVE of us, and the beginning of the busy season!!! Back to school with me in night classes twice a week. Monday and Tuesday I have classes from 9am till 4pm then again from 6pm till 9pm. Talk about LONG DAYS. Fortunate for me, I have a wonderful hubby who has jumped in and pulled up the slack. He is amazing and wonderful and is so pulling more than his share of the weight and I love him for it. Wednesday through Friday aren't near as bad...classes are just 9am till 3pm.

September we enjoyed the hot weather...LOL Some really unseasonable weather which of course brought lots of allergies, sniffles, and colds...but we survived. We are now fully into the swing of school and trying like mad to keep up.

This weekend, brings yet another birthday into the mix. We will be celebrating Lexi's 7th birthday this Saturday. Since it is her "golden" birthday, I told her she could go all out and actually have a party somewhere instead of doing it at home. She picked a few places then ultimately decided on Ultimate Gymnastics in Carbondale. I am hopeful it will be a great day for her, and the other kids coming. Now...we pick a cake!!!

Fletcher Family Vacation 2010

For those of you interested, here is a rundown of our vacation this year. Pictures are still being developed from the "water camera" so nothing to post just yet. Stay tuned for those...

Friday: Got up, dropped off movies before we left town. Picked up rental car in Marion and headed for Evansville. Got to Evansville, ate lunch at Chic-A-Fill-A and it was great. Went to the Evansville Zoo and it was amazing!! Cost a bit to get in, but parking was free and all the attractions inside the zoo were free except for the tram...it was $2 a person. Finished at the zoo and went to CiCi's Pizza for dinner. Love that place!! After dinner went to the Baymont Inn to spend the night. Played in the pool for a hour or so then went up to the room and passed out.

Saturday: Got up, went to IHOP for breakfast because we had never been there. It was a bit pricey but some great food for sure! Left breakfast and headed for Holiday World without telling the girls where we were going. Got to the parking lot...and the girls freaked out. The thought we were just driving by to torture them with the sign...so when we actually parked and told them to get out they were STOKED!!! Honestly the most excited I have ever seen them!! Anyway, we went into Holiday World around 10am and honestly did not come out until 8pm that night. Not even once...not even to stop for lunch. These kids were not leaving until we forced them to, it was great. Chelsea and Alexis were thrill seekers, they rode the Pilgrim's Plunge and The Legend roller coaster. Rebecca was not so fond of the "fast rides" so she only rode a couple family water slides and a TON of the kids rides. Honestly she was a trooper and tried almost everything we asked her to. Once we finally left Holiday World, we went straight to the hotel, found our room, then ran into town to get lunch/dinner at Rally's. The girls chowed down on their food and literally passed out once we hit the hotel that night. We really wore them out this day.

Sunday: Everyone was wiped out from Holiday World so we slept in until almost 9. Sadly, we were in a different time zone in this hotel so we slept in until 10 their time. Check out was at 11, so we had to hustle to get us all ready, packed and out of there in an hour. Which means we did not get to use the pool at this hotel, but I wasn't too sad about that once I got a good look at the pool... to put it mildly, I was pretty upset that I spent money on this hotel for sure. Once we left we headed for Marengo Cave. On the way there we stopped at a little "mom and pop" diner for lunch. Some of the BEST fried chicken I have ever had. After lunch we took the 3 minute drive on to the cave. Talk about packed...it was crazy busy when we got there, but to our surprise, we only waited for 20 minutes for our tour of the cave. I figured the girls would enjoy the tour, but they more that liked it...they wanted so badly to go on the 2nd tour I felt bad telling them no. Instead we decided to do some gemstone mining at the cave. They each got their own bag of dirt, sand, rocks, and gems. They gave them these screens and running "spring water" to pan for gems in...it was a lot of fun and the girls loved it. Each one of them got some really cool gems as well. I was shocked that they actually got pieces of garnets, emeralds, obsidian, pyrite, rubies, and some quartz. Ask them some time to show you...it's pretty cool. After the mining, it was time to move on to our last city...Corydon Indiana. We drove there and first looked for a hotel. Once we found that we unpacked and went to our next stop, black-light putt putt golf at Golf Shores Fun. Talk about amazing!!! Everything looked so weird and cool...it was set up to look like we were in the ocean...very nice. After golf we went to an old time ice cream shoppe and got some taffy and ice cream. We then went to dinner at a Mexican restaurant, and it began to rain. Instead of letting the weather ruin our fun, we went back to the hotel and played Yahtzee with the girls until midnight. It was one of the best nights ever!!

Monday: We got up pretty early this day to get our free breakfast at the hotel. Pretty yummy, and it was hot food!! After breakfast we went swimming in the CHILLY pool for a bit, then packed up the car and checked out. We began our trip home with a stop at the custard shop in town. Culvert's was pretty good, but still no where near as good as Andy's for sure!!! We then left Corydon and headed toward Illinois. We took a different route home though to see if we found anything neat along the way. We crossed a couple really creepy bridges along the way, found Garden of the Gods and had to stop. Amazzzing sights here people. I never knew just how cool these rock formations were, but man was I missing out. We had to cut the walk a bit short though because it started to thunder and lightening and I got freaked out. Back on the road, we saw an AMAZING rainbow (two even) that I will just have to show you to make you believe it. Anyway, it was great and the girls were in AWE of it. We continued home, and finally got there, dropped off our stuff, returned the rental car, played a game of Yahtzee with the girls, and again PASSED OUT from exhaustion.

I know it isn't much, but I wanted to document just a little of what went on in our vacation this year. Partly because I know some people are interested and would like to read it, but mostly because I know how easily I forget things and I truly want to remember this vacation for EVER!! Have a great week everyone!!

Mother's Day

Already that time of year again...Mother's Day. A day that I should be happy and excited to spend time with my girls, see what fun card they made me this year, just enjoy being a mom. And here I sit...sad, depressed, lonely, even a bit angry. It has been almost eight years now, you would think I'd have learned how to deal with it. Why is it still so hard sometimes? When does it get easier? Will it hurt forever? I'm not aware of a better way to deal with the pain...so I try to hold it in. I feel like I'm just whining...so I keep it to myself. I miss you so much mom...what's it like where you are? Are you amazed how beautiful your grandkids are? Can you believe I started college...at 30? Time sure flies huh...wish you were here to share these things with me. I love you so much mom...

Scholarship

**HAPPY DANCING HAPPY DANCING**

I am soooo excited to blog tonight. Not because it has been forever since I've done it, but because I actually have something very blog-worthy!!

My amazing husband just got an amazing phone call. A few months ago he applied for a scholarship in our little "neck of the woods" that his amazing sister Amy told him about. Just got the news that he got it!!! That's right...he got it!!!

I am so proud of him!!! All his hard work, long sleepless nights, time away from home, family and friends...and it has finally paid off a bit. No, that's not true...it is paying off A LOT!

As it turns out, it pays his tuition for THREE semesters!! He will still have to pay lab fees, student fees, books, you know...but realistically the scholarship will save us around $8,000 for those three semesters!!

I know this is a drastically long blog, but I just had to say that I am married to a most amazing man who doesn't quite know how awesome he is. I love you Jayson and I am soooo proud of you!

Laptop Lovin...

Yeah so that sounded a little dirtier than I had planned...maybe I should explain a bit. For a few months now my home computer has been on the fritz and acting up non-stop. I thought it must be from all the junk (pictures, music, games) that are on it, so I got rid of a lot of it. Now when I say a lot of it, I mean like 8 gigs worth of stuff off the desktop!! So of course afterwards it runs like a dream right?!?! NO!!! It is still slower than a snail, freezes more than ice cream, and seriously locks up worse than a 70 year old's knees...in short, it sux!
Now Jayson's first thought it, well time for you to get a laptop Lisa...let the girls have the desktop for thier homework and games, and you get a laptop for school. Now let me be totally honest...the "kid" in me jumped for joy screamed YAY YAY YAY and did cartwheels at that moment. The adult part of me began to weep a little...just thinking about the money it was gonna take to get it done.
Now, a full month and some later, I finally have that laptop. Partly becuase I had to be convinced (strongly) that it was the best idea in this situation, and partly cause if I'm spending this much money on something, I'm certainly gonna research it WELL!!! In the end, we decided on a Toshiba Satellite from Best Buy. I have only had it a week or so now, but I am already in love with it. The portability, the ability to do homework AT SCHOOL, the ease of typing, being able to store all my school stuff on MY computer, and most of all...it's mine.
Ok, so that sounded a little selfish I know, but to be honest...this is the first piece of electronic equipment that I have ever owned. Always shared a cell phone with someone, shared radios with siblings, and even my MP3 player belonged to someone else before me. This I picked out just for me just cause I researched it, found the best deal, and loved it. I guess that is a bit selfish after all huh?!?!?

T-Minus 7 Days

That's right ladies and germs, in just 7 short days my husband will be 33 years old.

I know he'll just LOVE me for announcing it, but I for one think it's something to celebrate. Dang school gets in the way of sooo much lately. Secondly, I am happy to report that I did well this semester!! Out of my five classes I ended up with four A's and one lonely B. Not bad for sure, but I have to admit I was a lil sad to see the B. With all that said...it is still over and time for BREAK!!!

Today Jayson is helping some friends move so I'm home alone with my girls. We have played some games, done some dishes, cleaned a lil, and now they are off playing while I blog...cause it's a bit theraputic for me. :-) Sunday we have dinner in Mt. Vernon with my step-mom's family right after a stop at the VFW for a Christmas thing there. Monday however, starts the FUN!!!

Monday through Wednesday is non-stop cooking, baking, mixing, spreading, tasting, stiring, just lots and lots of fun. We make cookies, treats, desserts, and yummy stuff for a select few of our friends and family. Not because we don't love them all, but because there are only so many days in the week before Christmas. So if you happen to be a family that does NOT get treats, please don't think we don't love you...there are just five of us and lots of you. We will get ya next year!

As a final word, I have to say how thankful I am to have my husband. I cannot fathom making it through this semester without him. He makes me laugh even when I don't want to, fixes my problems even when he doesn't know he's done it, and best of all...he loves me no matter what. I am NOT the easiest person to be around sometimes, and he loves me regardless. We have our trials and we have our moments, but I would not trade him for anything, and I love him more and more each day. Thank you Jayson for all you do....

Ok, one more thing...I miss my mom a lot this time of year. I know that's normal, and I know that it will get better with time, I'm just wondering...am I wrong to try and avoid it? I used to go out to the cemetary EVERY Christmas, birthday, Easter, 4th of July...like every holiday and put a little something on the gravestone and just "be" there for a minute. Since I started school I keep making excuses to not go. In fact, I have not been out there since the anniversary of her death...in July. Part of me feels bad, but another part of me feels so much better for not going through the pain as much this year. Any thoughts???

Happy 8th Anniversary

WOW!! There are days I can't imagine life without him, and days I'm certain if I love him anymore my heart will burst. Then there are days when I'm sure I'm about to wake up and this has all been some wonderful dream...and yet here I am still.

No doubt about it, I'm a lucky lucky girl...and most of the time I know it! What a difference a year (And a haircut) makes!!!

The main purpose of my blogging this evening (cause heaven knows I am too busy to be doing this) is to remind myself, lmy daughter, and others just how lucky I am to have this girl in my life. She has been such a sweet heart, a terrible terror, and my biggest fan...and that's just yesterday! ;o) Words cannot explain the love I have for her (and all my girls) and just how thankful I am to have them as my children. I know this is sappy, but hey...I'm a momma.

I know I'm not keeping up with the blog nearly as well as I should be...but man school is challenging. For instance...tonight I am studying for a midterm in psychology tomorrow. Tuesday I have a test over 9 chapters in language and literacy for toddlers. Thursday I have a paper due in one of my online classes, then next Tuesday I have a portfolio of a child due in infancy development. I'm breaking a sweat just typing it.

So for those of you who know what I'm talking about...thanks for understanding! For those of you who don't...wanna help me with some homework???

September Already?

It is September...in fact, September is nearly half over! Fall classes are in full swing, and I've even taken my first test. Psychology...yuck yuck yuck. It's a very interesting class, don't get me wrong...I just don't retain a lot of the information the professor lectures on. I'm not sure if it is his awesome stories that distract me, or the obsession I have with writing every thing down in notes. Either way, I miss a lot of lecture...hope that doesn't hurt me.

Biggest news I have to share is this upcoming weekends event. An amazing couple (Jason and Danielle) are getting married this Saturday!! Jayson is the Best Man (of course I already knew that) and I am the Matron (cause I'm old) of Honor. I'm so excited for these two!!! Like Jayson and I, they dated for ever before deciding to tie the knot. As of Saturday September 12th at 5pm...ITS OFFICIAL!!!

In secondary news...this has been a trying time for the health of my family. I'm not exagerating at all when I say I have spent 2 of the past 3 weekends in the ER with one family member or another. Jayson was first on Aug. 30th. He was severly dehydrated, and they said he had a stomach bug...not sure about that one though. Anyway, he rested and rested, drank gallons of Gatorade and within 2-3 days was back to his old self. Unfortunately...a week later (Sept. 5th)Rebecca felt she needed a trip to the ER as well. She went to bed with a stuffy nose Saturday night, woke up around 1am claiming her chest hurt. Next thing I know she is turning blue on me and crying because it hurts...run to the ER...bronchitis. Sent us home with a rescue inhaler, antibiotics, cough medicine, and tylenol for fever (she never got a fever).

Now, as I mentioned before...this weekend is special. Our friends are getting married. I cannot afford another trip to the ER with yet another child and/or husband. What I'm saying is this... quarentine anyone??

Five - Ohhh

AHHHHHH!!!

I did it, I got A's in both my classes this semester, I am soo excited!!

I have to say, I was so freaked out waiting for grades to come in. That's right boys and girls, one semester is done. Put into the books, study time over, finals taken...I mean it's done.

I'm so terribly excited to have finished a semester of college (even if it was just on-line courses) that I feel the need to blog. Well, the fact that I haven't written since April helps that too.

Sorry about that really!! I had NO IDEA studying would take up so much of my time. I guess it's true what they say about teaching an old dog new tricks.

So I'd love to tell you that I got an 'A' in both classes, but the truth is, I don't know yet. Grades are due today for the teachers, so hopefully I'll be able to post them tonight. In other words, stay tuned...I'm so excited!!!!

The Secret is Out

I have had a thought in my mind for some time now. An idea that someday when my kids were somewhat grown, and they all attended school, that maybe my life might become my own again. Letting my mind wander with those thoughts let me imagine something that only a VERY FEW close friends knew about. That small idea has grown into a full blown plan and today, I set the plan in motion. I'm sure most of you have no idea what I'm rambling about, so I'll get on with it. It is official, and there is no turning back now, we are going to see what happens...

I know, I know...it's about time right?!?! Oh, and for those of you don't know me really well, you may still be in the dark, so I'll clarify a bit. My nickname is De Mouse, so the funny cartoon is implying (and honestly so) that we are going to see what happens if you take (me) to school.

That's right boys and girls, I'm finally going to school to figure out what I wanna be (besides a momma) when I grow up. It's got me going through quite a roller coaster right now I have to admit. I'm soooo excited to be getting out of the house and doing something that I want to do, and doing it just for me. On the other hand...I'M THIRTY years old. The people at John A. are going to seem like kids to me I just know it. Oh well, better late than never right?!?!

There is yet another aspect of this adventure that has been a bit worried. Yep, you guessed it

Homework!!!!

You would think that after all this time helping Jayson and the girls, I'd be pretty well used to it right? Only, not so much when the homework I'm doing deteremines MY grades or when the homework is above a 3rd grade level. I know, I'm just being silly... At any rate; it's official, I start school this summer in on-line courses, then full time student at John A. Logan in the fall. So wish me luck, pray for me often (he he) and if you have any tips or hints, let me know!!!

Happy Easter 2009

Eggs, and Bunnies, and Candy OH MY!!! Yep, that's right, its Easter time again. Time to break out the plastic eggs, the fake grass, those adorable baskets, and of course the "dye everything in its path" egg coloring kit. This year, we had a picnic with Jayson's family the day before Easter at Paul Ice. The weather was great, just a bit chilly, and the kids had a blast! Here are some "yummy" pictures of the days activities....
Prepare for the egg hunt!
The first egg...RUN!!!
Chelsea and Cole.
Rebecca, Alexis and the same egg.
Tanya and Rodney helping the kids.
This egg took the kids a long time.
The following day was Easter and we had a picnic in Mt. Vernon with Stacy's (step-mom) side of the family. They are really nice people and the girl always have tons of fun there. Stacy's mom makes these amazing cheesy potatoes, and her aunt makes the 2nd best ham ever. The only better ham I've tasted is my dad's...so really no one will ever top that!! Again, I offer you cute pictures of Sunday's fun!!
Rebecca, not sure about the face...
Chelsea found an entire bucket.
Alexis, I caught her eating candy!!
Rebecca was the first to fill her basket.
The kids were searching.
This is my girls very very early Easter morning.
They woke up, saw the Easter baskets and just KNEW it was time to go out and hunt for the 3 DOZEN eggs we had colored and some "bunny" hid. I hope you all had a wonderful Easter and tried to remember the real reason we celebrate this holiday. May you all stay helathy and enjoy the Spring weather...if it ever gets here. So I looked at the kid's school lunch calendar today and it hit me...MARCH. Well, actually the middle of March already!!! I'm not sure just where this month went, but it has really flown by. We spent all of last week with the girls and Jayson on Spring Break...which was AWESOME!!! We have not had a lot of family time with him lately, so it was a nice change to eat dinner with dad each night.

It seems like the girls were just as busy over break as ever though...birthday parties, sleepovers, church activities, etc. Not that I'm complaining...thier being gone a lot left some time for Jayson and I to catch up to each other a little. Turns out, I did actually marry a person 7 some years ago...I was begining to wonder I tell ya.

Now, we are just a few hours away from Jayson's 32nd birthday, and where is the birthday boy??? School of course...go figure. I mean really, homework over Spring Break; what kind of evil professor does that? Anyway, he is there working diligently while I sit and "play" on the computer...I really should not complain huh.

This has been a good year for us so far...we are still working on our "diet" that we refer to as body training. Its something like training ourselves to eat differently more than restricting ourselves from food. We started a new portion control thing this month, that quickly fizzled out. Turns out it is amazingly difficult to eat valid portions of food and not over-do it when you have NO IDEA what portion sizes are supposed to look like. So now we are on a search to find some information and start portion control in April.

Other news in our life...we are going to be in a wedding. Our GREAT GREAT friends Jason and Danielle (Dee) are getting married this September. They asked Jayson and I to be in thier wedding as best man and matron of honor!!! What an honor for us to be able to stand up with our friends and watch them as they join thier lives together. They are such a cute couple and really work great together...I can't wait to see the cutie baby dolls they have!!!
I guess that's about it for this update, my natives (kids) are restless and really need to get to bed. Have a wonderful St. Patrick's Day, enjoy this month, and...SMILE, it makes people wonder what you are up to!!

Haircut Time

My oldest daughter, Chelsea decided it was time to donate her hair again to Locks of Love. She has done this once before and loved it, so here we are again cutting off 12" of hair!! Naturally, when one child gets something, the others belive they too deserve said item. So in good form...all three kids got haircuts tonight. Because they turned out sooooo stinkin adorable, I had to blog about it and of course post pictures. So, without delay, here are the new and improved version of my three beautiful girls and thier haircuts. This month Jayson and I decided to go for a challenge, and begin the one plate of food rule. According to the "book" it does not matter how much food is on your plate just as long as you only have the one plate. No seconds, no snacking between meals, and I am also keeping the idea that started all this, and having no sweets, chocolate, candy, etc. except on Sunday.
I know everyone is probablly tired of hearing about my habits, chocolate weakness and the like, so thanks for bearing with me and in some cases even supporting me. Have a great week, and stay warm!!

Discipline

Ok, so my thought is that if I blog about something I am somehow "accountable" for sticking to it. Therefore...I'm blogging to let everyone know I am beginning a new "diet" of sorts. It's less of a diet and more of a way to teach myself self-control and discipline. I began on January 1st having no sweets, candy, chocolate, etc. except on Sundays. And now, three full weeks later, I am still sticking to it!!! Not a big feat for some I'll agree, but for me, it's a huge deal.
In April I start drinking soda only one day a week (prolly Sat. or Sun.) along with the sweets thing. Then if I can conquer both of those, I move on to having only one serving of food (ie. one plate of food) at each meal. Supposedly practicing these things make them a habit and help you to become more in control of what you put into your body. The hope is that while doing all this, I can shed some yucky belly along the way.
And just to give him props, my wonderful husband has stepped up and agreed to go through this with me. Now the sweets thing isn't tough for him, but once we start that one plate of food thing...he might rethink his plan to help me. :) So to all those "dieters" out there who struggle just like me, let me know if you have some ideas or hints or tips, or if you would just like to share your story, I'm all ears. But not bunny ears, cause those would be chocolate. Mmmm, did you say chocolate?!?

Time for a change

Gah!! I am a horrible blogger, I can't believe it has been almost a month. Suprisingly...I have very few updates to talk about. The biggest change in the past month has been my release from Young Womens. I was secretary for right around a year, and got released right after the New Year. I'm both happy and sad about the change. I am thrilled I get to spend some time in Relief Society and get to know some of the new sisters. At the same time, I'm really going to miss the girls I got to know during my time in the YW program. For now, I am a free spirit, with no Sunday calling...sshhh, don't tell anyone.

January also means back to school for yet another semester for Jayson. A bright note to that is, we are "unofficially" at the half-way point of his school career. That is, his school career before his Masters degree anyway. His got a tought work load this semester with his studio class, a steel structures class, and then physics with physics lab. Basically what I'm saying is if you would like to speak to the blur formerly known as Jayson, please leave a message, he'll get back to you sometime in March!!

On another note, Chelsea just turned 9 this past Friday the 16th. It's amazing how fast our girls are growing up. I know it wasn't that long ago they were sitting on my lap asking me to read bedtime stories, and now they barely want to sit beside me...ahhh!! I'm posting a few pics of my "all grown up" girls, and I'm off to bed. Have a wonderful week all.

Happy 2009

I sometimes get all sentimental this time of year. Looking forward to the upcoming year as a fresh new start makes me think back on the past year and ponder on the events in it. I can say without doubt this was a rough year for our family. Lots of you have no idea what I mean, but a select few have the ins and outs of the trials in my life. This post is for those people. A small way for me to say thank you for listening to my problems, letting me cry on your shoulder, lending a hand when you could, and most of all thank you for just being a great friend when I needed someone. My heart is set on making this year better than the last, and maybe finally getting a better hold on things. Have a wonderful start to this 2009; be safe, be well, and we love you!!!

True or False

I'm not sure why, but I am totally addicted to surveys. Now I'll admit that when she was younger she was a bit of a hinderance to date night occasionally, but in the end that was probablly for the better. Amy has always been someone that, while younger than me, I have always looked up to and respected. She is a wonderful example of a wife, mother, and for me, a great friend. It wasn't until recently that I realized just how talented she is as a photographer. She got the whole Fletcher Clan together for pictures with her awesome new camera, and I was truly blown away at the amazing shots she got. I know that she will not brag on herself, so I just had to post a little something showing off her work. I hope she doesn't mind...and if you do, I'll delete the pictures. Love ya Amy!!!

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5281262706390967266" style="WIDTH: 133px; I look around and see Christmas lights on houses, inflatable Santas and reindeer on lawns, and most importantly, our front room looks like elves have thrown a party. I have recently had a hard time getting into the "spirit" of Christmas since my mom has been gone, but this year I vowed to make it different. I made myself sit down with the girls last night and watch "The Polar Express"; and while this movie isn't exactly a tear-jerker, I balled like a small child. I love the simple idea of what Santa says to the little boy when he gives him the special bell. For those of you who do not remember, or have not watched the movie, I'll tell you. Santa tell the boy to remember that the bell is merely a symbol of Christmas just like Santa is. He tells him the true meaning and spirit of Christmas is in his heart. It meant a lot for my kids to hear that it wasn't all about Santa and presents and such. While the "holiday season" might be tough on me sometimes, I have to remember to keep my head up, keep myself focused, and to help my kids enjoy this time of year as much as they can. I hope you all get out there and have a great holiday, enjoy the time off of school (if you get any time off), and most of all...spend lots and lots of time with your family. So from the Fletcher Five to all of you, have a Very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Everyone!!!

Happy Thanksgiving

Ok so its been a long time since my last post so first and foremost I'll say sorry for being such a bad blogger lately. Secondly, YAY for my sis-in-law Amy!!! She just got accepted to SIUC PA program for Summer Semester 2009. Then of course I'll have to say Happy Turkey Day people!! And for those of you who don't already know...I'n turning 30 that day too. Ugh, I'd like to say I'm happy about it, but that would be a lie. Anywho, not much new going on on the homefront, just excited to be spending this week with my hubby. He has this entire week off school, so we are finishing up some projects around the house. Oh and he is building a frame for my swing that Roger built me for my birthday.

Thanksgiving is going to be hectic like every other holiday in this family of course. Half the day with his family, half the day with my family...BUT even with all the stress and movement and motion I love it. Mostly because I did not have a lot of it during my growing up years so it's exciting. Then on Friday...it's shopping time!!!! Jayson and I get up at 3 a.m. to get those awesome "doorbuster" specials and such, and sometimes we really do get some major deals. The most exciting part really for me though is that I get to spend all day with my love just hanging out and spending time together. So, now that I have gone on and on about my Thanksgiving...how do you spend yours??

Mom...I'm bored!

So here's what I'm wondering...who came up with the bright idea of the four day weekend for kids? Ya know, cause mom's don't have enough stress Friday through Sunday right?!?! Its not that I don't love my kids, they just get so bored sitting at home all day, and when its 42 degrees outside, there is not much else you can do. I can honestly say I have heard the phrase, "Mom, I'm bored!!" (with a lovely whiny tone) at least 15 times this weekend...and they still have tomorrow off too. Whew, now that I have that off my chest, I'll say thanks for letting me vent, and if you have ANY indoor fun activities besides coloring, painting, movies, etc...let us know!!!

7 Years Later...

Happy Anniversary to Jayson and I!!! Holy cow can you believe Jayson and I have been married 7 years?? I know, it's still a shock to me too. It's amazing for me to actually sit and think about it sometimes. Yeah, 7 years is a long time I know, but the really cool part is that we have been a couple for 15 years. I have officially spent half of my life with this man, and I can't wait to see what the next 15 have in store for us. Thank all of you who sent us cards and well wishes, we love you and so appreciate your love and support these past years.

In honor of our fifteen year love affair *chuckle* I decided to brag a little on my husband and tell you what he did for me this Saturday. I woke up at 7am to go to the church and help Shirley (mother-in-law) with the Relief Society craft day. After painting, gluing, poking, drilling holes, more painting, and then cleaning for almost 10 hours, I was ready to pass out. Then in walks my husband with a change of clothes for me and tells me to not ask questions, just go get dressed and meet him outside. So, I get dressed, tell everyone bye, and meet him in the van. He brought me a brush, ponytail holders, deodorant, etc. all the things I would need to get ready for a date night...how amazing is he right?!? Off we go to dinner in Marion.

On the way there he asks if I would like to do anything after dinner, so we decided to go bowling at the Student Center. While at dinner though, he hands me my card from him and inside are **drum roll please** tickets to a play at The Stage Company opening weekend!!! I know, he rules right!! It was such a good play, written back in the 40's, and instead of adapting it for modern times, they left it as written, and I think it was even more comical that way. If you are curious, it was called The Star Spangled Girl. Anyway, we had a blast, and I got one of the coolest anniversary presents EVER!! In case he reads this, I love you honey & thank you soooo much for an awesome 7 years!! Muahs

Party Results

I feel compelled to let everyone know that Lexi's birthday party was not the utter failure I previously thought it might become. As it turns out, it actually went pretty well for a party planned in less than 48 hours. I took a lot of pictures, and thought I'd share them in my blog, mostly so that next time I freak out, I have something to look back on. There were 10 kids at the party along with around 15 parents. We roasted hot dogs on a fire that was so stinkin hot everyone came up with plans to avoid sitting next to it.

We also had chips and drank juices and soda. After food, we played the first game. The kids had to sit on a balloon to pop it and see what was inside. If they found a Tinkerbell napkin inside their balloon, they won a prize. Then the kids went on a treasure hunt to find their "goody bags".

I personally loved this game because they really had to think about the clue instead of just run and find the candy. It was fun for me at least...lol After the treasure hunt it was time for cake and ice cream and presents. Lexi was really lucky and got a lot of the Tinkerbell things she had been asking for, and I was really excited about some cute outfits she got as well.

She had a blast at the party and was really happy because a few friends from pre-school got to come to the party too. So truth be told, it wasn't the end of the world, and it wasn't a disaster. How you ask; well, we went to Hobby Lobby to pick out some fabric for Christmas gifts. Then we went to Best Buy to look at cameras. Now while this might not be exciting happenings for most people...it's the most I've been out of the house "alone" in a long time. Technically I did have one small person (Alexis) with me, but she was good most of the day.
On the way home Amy and I were talking about babies and life and death, all sorts of interesting topics; and it made me think, wow...6 years already. I sometimes can't believe she's been gone for that long. I can't complain, most days go by without tears, and some days I'm even "happy" for her. It's the other 5% of the time when it just smacks you in the face that you have to worry about. Talking with Amy yesterday helped me realize a little more just how important it is that I continue to raise my children in the gospel. I never want them to question where they are from or where they are going when they die. I want them to be comforted in knowing that even though it hurts when we lose people, we will see them again. We have the opportunity to live with them again, after they pass away. This gospel is the only one that explains that path back to our loved ones. I want my girls to know exactly what it takes, and be able to do it.
Since I'm not the public speaking type, this is about as close to a speech as I get. So just in case certain people are reading this, I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for not giving up on me and Jayson through all those years of missionary discussions, all the Monday Night Dinners, all the fights, a few break-ups, but mostly through all the heartache in your family. It means so much to me that even through all that, you were there waiting for us to decide when it was the right time for us. Right there to welcome us in, to help nourish us in the gospel, to make sure we understood how important those steps were. I know I can speak for Jayson and the girls when I say...We love you, we thank you, and we would not have made it this far without your love and support. That means all three of you... R,S,A (you know who you are).

Bad Mom of the Year Award

As most of you know, my daughter Alexis turned 5 this Tuesday. She is the baby of the family, and as such sometimes gets a bit spoiled (in other words, she is spoiled rotten). I'm the type of mom that type of Mom that tries to make the really cool homemade birthday cakes, print out the fun coloring books for everyone, make the fun goody bags, and of course have lots and lots of games and activities for all party-goers. So far, I've been able to get this done without much dispair...until this birthday. This has been such a crazy week if I have had no time to even find a Tinkerbell cake much less make one; not to mention the kids are out of school tomorrow so I have zero time alone to get it done tomorrow. So here I sit at 7:30 the night before my baby's 5th birthday party with next to nothing planned for her. I bought the hot dogs, still need buns, I bought some juices and soda, but I have NO CAKE...what is wrong with my brain. I have this vision of 20 screaming 3-7 year olds in my back yard bored out of thier minds with no cake or ice cream begging to go home and young Alexis crying somewhere in a corner...or under the apple tree. Why you ask am I sitting here blogging about my problems instead of fixing them...yeah good question. Plan of attack: get off Blogger, find a cake, bake and decorate said cake, go to store and buy buns, come home print off party games, pray. Yeah..lots of prayer needed for this one.

Hubby Tag

Hubby Tag

1. Yep, it's that time of year again...FALL!!! I love watching the leaves change, feeling the air get crisp and cool, and snuggling up to sleep at night. I love this time of year. Of course, it just happens to be my busiest time of year. October starts a 3-4 month streak of birthdays, anniversaries and holidays in our family. Speaking of such, tomorrow is Lexi's 5th birthday!! She's very excited because she just got her ears pierced this Friday. It was our birthday present to her this year. Just as soon as I get them, I'll post some pictures of her newly decorated ears. On to the main reason for my post today. I noticed this year that Halloween costumes have gone up in price again. Having 3 kids, I would spend nearly $60 on just costumes for the girls. I have decided, it's just not worth it. That being said, I can't tell my girls they can't go trick-or-treating, so I'm trying something new this year. I'm going to try and make the girls costumes. I have a few sites that I'm looking through, and I'd love to share them with you in case you have the same $ issues we do. Here they are:
http://www.ehow.com/halloween/costumelist.html
http://www.1halloween.net/html/costume.html
http://www.coolest-homemade-costumes.com/index.html
Well then, I hope this helps anyone looking for some help with the rising costs of...everything. We hope everyone has a wonderful Halloween (be safe & check that candy) and hope you all get out there and enjoy the season.

Is Everything Forever??

Do you ever sit and wonder about forever? This church speaks a lot about things that are eternal. Families are forever, marraige is forever, etc. The fact that all these things are "forever" got me to thinking...is my attitude eternal? Will the attitude I form here on earth be taken with me when I go? Wow...I've never had such a good reason for an attitude adjustment. Lately I have noticed a lot of talks, classes, broadcasts, handouts and such all speaking the same message to me. Get over your whining, get off your bum, and make a difference in someone's life. Is thre any sacrifice really too great to make for this gospel? If I just consider all that He sacrificed for me, consider all that He has done and will do, how could anything be too much? Sometimes I feel like I just don't have anything left to give. I'm a mom, I hold down my calling, I support my spouse, I live the gospel to the best of my ability, isn't that enough? I mean, after a day of school, kids, dishes, housework, taxi-driver, and occasional home-work helper, I am spent. I have no desire to call the people I should VT and see how they are. I wonder if I am the only one who feels...spent. It got me to thinking...what if I take these ideas with me when I go? If I'm not doing enough here, will I do enough there?? Will I aid in bringing up the kingdom of God, or will I just be a speed bump? These are the things I think about late t night while Jayson is doing homework...sorry for the odd blog.

We went north....to Chicago

Blisters hurt...and I've got lots and lots of blisters. Why you ask, well, let me explain. Jayson had an architecture symposium this weekend...in Chicago. He did not want to make a 5 hour drive alone, so he recruited me to go with him. While I might normally say no to such a thrilling (notice me yawning) invitation to listen to 5 hours of seminars, this weekend I gave in. Mostly casue it's been ages since Jayson and I had any alone time, so I thought it would be good for us. Plus, we had an invitation to stay with a friend's parents, so it ended up being a very affordable weekend. So Friday we set out on our journey to Chicago. Illinois Istitute of Technology to be exact.

This cross is the first really neat thing we came across in our trip. The picture on the left is a bit of better angle, but I had to put the middle one up just to give you an idea of the size of this cross. If you look at the very bottom of the cross (picture in the middle) and just on the left side is a little yellow speck. That speck is Jayson...crazy huh. The third picture is looking up to the top from the ground. The sky was just cloudy enough to make a cool picture that day. Anyway, this cross is huge and beautiful and you just have to see it to really get it.

Ok, so Kristie Schuler offered her parent's house for us to stay in over the weekend, and this is the way I repay her right?!? I know...yeah for pictures. We slept in the room with lots and lots of family pictures on the wall, so I had to take a few to bring home with us. Far left is Kristie at a much younger age...note the way cute hair. Middle is Kristie either after just delivering or about to deliver a child. The small addition is Gryphon holding Aurora. The picture on the right is the Schuler Family before they had Mikey. How adorable are Kristie and Eric..I know right??!! Anywho, the Judds were awesome hosts, and while we did not get to see Harlan (Kristie's dad) even one time...he works a lot; it was great to stay there. Kristie's mom Judy is amazing. She made us homemade hot cocoa, and packed us a lunch for on the way home Sunday...yummy.

First picture is the school where Jayson had to go for lectures, IIT. This building pictured is where we went to grab lunch cause the cafeteria there was $8 a person. That's right...EIGHT dollars per person to eat cafeteria food...I think not. We headed across the way to this place where there was a 7-11, we got a hot dog and soda for each of us for less than $5...nice huh. The picture in the middle is a tram track that literally goes on the roof of IIT. I'm still not sure how well this was thought out. I mean it truly is loud and a bit annoying...and people are supposed to be studying here? Granted, this building has no classes, it's more like the Student Center, but c'mon...a tram track?? Oh well. Then there is the third picture. I'm no architecture buff, but I still thought this was pretty awesome. This is the door that leads into the bldg. where we ate lunch. From a distance, you see a picture of the architect that designed a majority of the blgds on the campus Meis Van Der Ohh (spelling probablly wrong). When you get closer to the door, you notice that the picture is actually a mosaic of architectural signs and designs that make up this huge picture of Meis. It is very very cool, and Jayson loved it, so here it is for you as well.
Ok, I know this is an odd picture, but I read some of the background about this ball, and it is at least a little cool. Turns out that this guy is traveling the world with this ball and sticking it into narrow places where it is just a bit out of place...and making it "art". So far this ball has been as far as Paris according to his booklet. Anyway, I thought it was at least blog-worthy for that. After his lectures, lunch, and a stroll through almost 50 school reps we were ready to head downtown. There are tons of neat places we visited, but I only put a few up, send an email if you'd like more of them!

These pictures are of a "masterpice" as Jayson says in Millennium Park. It is this really amazing band shell type thing. One reason it is so cool, is because of how they designed it. Each steel piece is placed for maximum sound quality. They are positioned so as to shoot sound out to the crowd so even people sitting on the grass can hear the concert.

I think the above item may have been the cooloest thing for me in Chicago. They call it the "jellybean mirror." Check out the pictures and it is clear to see where they got the idea huh. Anywho, the first picture is at a bit of a distance, so you can get an idea of how big it is. The second one is of Jayson and I walking under the jellybean (it's around 8ft tall in the center) and taking a pic together. The third one, I LOVE!!! It's almost like you can't tell where the jellybean ends and the natural sky starts...it rocks. And finally...I'll end this amazingly long post with pictures of the people who let us stay at thier house over the weekend.

A Sigh of Relief

Most of you reading this will know my kids, but for those of you who don't, I'll clarify. I have 3 children, all girls, and all a handful. Chelsea will turn 9 in January, Rebecca just turned 7 this July, and Alexis will be 5 in October. This weekend we had lots to do as Rebecca was a contestant for the Apple Festival Princess. (for Apple Festival Princess) While we were there the kids sat in the 85 degree heat just to catch candy and wave at Becca, they all listened like angels, and on top of all that, had to walk about 7 blocks to and from the car. I was impressed with how they listened and knew how hot it was going to be on Saturday so we took them to Sonic for a slushie treat to cool them down.

Saturday, Jayson drove Rebecca in a golf cart through the Grand Parade. It literally was 90 degrees with a scorching sun all through the 3 hour parade. The girls were overheated, uncomfortable, thirsty, tired, and really just wanted to go home before we even saw Rebecca's cart. Finally after nearly 2 hours, we saw her in the distance. She was gorgeous in a pink sparkly dress that Shirley had found for her. Jayson even wore a shirt and tie that went great with her dress. As they went by we all snapped some pictures, Shirley got some video, and just like that it was over. After the parade, Stacy's parents Roger and Nancy took us out to lunch at Houlihans (not sure I spelled that right). The girls had a blast, mostly cause they love Roger and Nancy, but also cause they were starving afer the parade.

Saturday night was the crowning of the prince and princess. Rebecca was aware that she would probablly not win, but was content in just having fun getting to dress up, ride in the parade, and feel like a princess all day. Again, if you know my kids, you will know how big of a deal this is to me...Rebecca got up on stage, and spoke into a microphone in front of a full auditorium. I was shocked, amazed, and so very proud of her. I got a few pictures inside, but most of them turned out dark. However, I got quite a fw cute ones from outside right afterwards. She had a lot of fun, got a goody bag just for being part of it, and her favorite thing...a stuffed Captain Applesauce doll. Go figure.

Blast From The Past

Hello again!! I've decided that even though we have not done anything "picture-worthy" in the last few days, I still have to put some pictures on this blog. So without further ado...a blast from the past.

This is a picture from Chelsea's baptism in January. There were so many people there to support her, it truly was an amazing experience for us and her. In fact, this picture only shows about half the people that were there!! Jayson and I are blessed to have such wonderful people in our lives!!

This one is from Brianna's 5th birthday party this July. As you can see, he slept all the time. He loved car rides and going on walks with us. Sadly, we lost him last week. He had a fight with a car tire and lost...the girls were heart-broken. We decided as a family that we would not have another pet for a while.

Whoa...I just realized that this blog is becoming obnoxiously long, and also that I have been sitting in the computer chair far too long. (Metal chair, 45 minute blog, you do the math!) Anyway, have a great day everyone...see ya soon!!!

Apple Festival

Yay!! It's APPLE FESTIVAL time in our little town of 10,000. It's an awesome week of carnival rides, parades, acivities, pagents, and much more. We decided (well Jayson's homework schedule decided) that we would hit the fair rides tonight when there would be less of a crowd. The girs each got to ride 8 rides this year and then we all went on the ferris wheel together. Shockingly, the only one that "Never wants to ride that tall thing again" was Rebecca. She decided it was far to scary when the ride stopped to let people on and off. Everyone had a good time tonight, but Mom forgot the camera. So...looks like the blog will be picture free for a couple more days. I'm off to help Jayson with some homework, have a great night all!!
